Marley Norton, Lead Teacher

Marley wants to know what the children think, feel, and wonder, expecting to learn from the children as well as with them.

Marley is a life-long learner who is continually advancing his teaching practice through reading, conversation, conferences and classes.

Marley graduated from UMass Amherst with degrees in Biochemistry and German. During their time in school, Marley focused on interdisciplinary STEM and international issues. With an emphasis on student-centered learning, Marley believes that intrinsic motivation and fostered curiosity are critical for deepening care and understanding of any learner. His drive for nature-based education comes primarily from his mentorship in college, completing projects ranging from diversity in STEM to the potential recycling of greywater. Marley has multiple years of experience working with kids as a cheer coach and is also an after-school teacher at the German International School Boston.

In their free time, they enjoy outdoor activities like rock climbing and marching band and spend their time indoors working on yarn crafts or playing live music.
