Yanely Delvalle, Intern

Yanely will join the teaching team at Forbes House Museum in Milton, as an Intern from Suffolk University.

Welcome, Yanely!

Hi, my name is Yanely Delvalle. I’m currently a senior, studying Psychology at Suffolk University. Starting in my teenage years I began babysitting my little cousins, nieces, and nephews, and as time went on I knew I wanted to work with kids.

I have a few cousins with Autism, and a niece who has Down syndrome, and I started gaining interest in how they played indoors vs. outdoors. Playing indoors I noticed they would always play with the same toys and always in an exciting mood, vs outdoors where they felt they had more freedom and the ability to observe every little thing.

As I continue my education, I’ve taken a few psychology courses such as Adolescent Development and Child Development, which gave me more insight on young children and their learning skills.

I love and enjoy playing with young children, and I’m interested in how they go about their day—whether that’s exploring, observing, or playing. As an adult, I continue to babysit and I love it even more now especially since my 5 month old nephew joined our family. I hope BOPN will help me gain more experience working with young children, as I support them with the children’s growth and learning.
