Growing up in the landscapes of Massachusetts’ North Shore and the lakes of New Hampshire, Sofia often finds comfort and curiosity in the natural environments surrounding her. Swimming in bodies of water or looking up at trees are often the moments and memories in which she feels most herself. She is looking to work for children and families while bringing together creativity, community, and connection in her career, and she is extremely excited to join the BOPN team and its mission to educate the whole child. Whether it has been babysitting, tutoring, or spending time with her many younger cousins, Sofia often feels energized and invigorated when working with children. She hopes to bring this energy in fostering growth and curiosity in her students at BOPN.
As a recent Boston College graduate, she studied Psychology and minored in Studio Arts and Hispanic Studies. During her time as a student, Sofia has worked as an undergraduate researcher in a social work lab that looks into the social, emotional, and physical development of immigrant families, children, and young people. She has also worked for artists, galleries, and projects that center collaboration, the climate crisis, and healing in art making.
In her free time, Sofia loves making pottery, cooking, biking, dancing, going to the movies, and spending time with her family and friends – and of course, being outside!
