Calling all BOPN families!
We are excited to announce the launch of a new book club for families of BOPN children. This will be a place to connect, read, and discuss non-fiction books related to raising children and grow our community.
This book club will be hosted by Mandy Slavik, BOPN’s Equity Programs Coordinator, who is an experienced teacher and BOPN-Sumner parent. This year Mandy stepped into a new role as a Commonwealth Corps service member, with a core mission of expanding access to nature-based early education by leading our Forest Days partnership with Sumner Elementary School and preparing to launch our Universal PreK class at the Franklin Park Zoo. She is excited to facilitate this learning and growing opportunity for our community.
The first book we will read is Raising Antiracist Children by Britt Hawthorne. The book is written in 5 parts, which we will read together over a period of 5 months. We will have a virtual discussion on zoom at the end of each part. Discussions will take place at 7:00 pm on the first Monday of each month, starting October 2nd.
We are excited to offer this opportunity to our families and hope you will join us in learning and growing as a community this year.
